Our family consists of 7 children, and after we lost a son, we decided to take on the family project of rebuilding the barn for family and friends to share. The 1870's barn was taken down by a tornado in 1993, and we decided to re-mortar the massive stone walls in 2005. We then cut cedar logs from our fence lines and neighbors property and turned these into beautiful cedar insulated walls. This massive 25 foot high barn, topped by a lit cupola, was built by the old fashioned post and beam methods, using wooden pegs to hold beams tight. With months of building, family laughter kept us going, as we were joined by our children, parents, neighbors & family to create a barn that reflects the sense of the 1870's farm era.
The Barn at Cedar Hill Farm, LLC has antique farm touches that make it unique. Hanging feed pails light the ceilings, an old copper moonshine still sits above the ol'tavern, an 1800's replica stove and fridge are part of our kitchenette, along with hickory harvest tables and brightly painted antique "kitchen" chairs to seat guests.
We now offer this special barn and landscaped grounds to friends and family, many of whom we have yet to meet.
